Flight drama as plane from Aberdeen to Shetland declares mid-air emergency

A flight from Aberdeen was forced to return to the Scots airport after declaring a mid-air emergency.

The Eastern Airways plane from Aberdeen to Sumburgh in Shetland turned back about 15 minutes after taking off.

The passenger flight have taken off from the runway at 6am on Tuesday morning.

The aircraft made a U-turn over Strichen in Aberdeenshire and declared an emergency on-board before heading back to Aberdeen Airport.

On its way back to Aberdeen Airport, the plane circled numerous times over Inverurie before landing back safely at about 6.35am.
