Flight disruption in Dublin Airport after 'drone sighting'

A number of flights have been forced to hold off landing at Dublin Airport after an apparent drone sighting.

The sighting allegedly happened near runway 10 with at least four flights forced to do a "go around" loop while waiting for clearance.

Flights from Shannon, Dubai, Bratislava, and London, were all disrupted due to the incident, Dublin Live reports.

The incident only affected arrivals and not departures.

The delay only lasted a few minutes before airport bosses were able to give the pilots the all-clear again.

A spokesperson for the airport said: "There was an unconfirmed drone sighting at Dublin Airport shortly before 8pm this evening.

"There was no formal confirmation that a drone had been sighted, and the incident had minimal impact on flight operations.

"The safety and security of airport users is Dublin Airport’s main priority and staff at daa and other agencies maintain constant vigilance in relation to potential drone activity in the vicinity of the airport."
