Over 100 flight crew members have come together to create a "first class lounge" for health workers in Belfast hospitals.
The volunteers have come together as part of Project Wingman, which has seen flight crews who are unable to work set up lounges in hospitals across the UK in order to provide NHS staff with somewhere to go and relax during or after their shifts.
The lounge at the Belfast Trust was set-up last Tuesday.
Speaking to Belfast Live, flight attendant Ellis Dawson said she was very proud to be able to help support frontline workers during the pandemic, and hopes they can create a relaxing space for them to wind-down in.
She said: "Over 100 flight crew members are helping to support Project Wingman at the Belfast Trust, where we will be serving in a special first class lounge we have created for our NHS workers.
"This will allow our health workers to come here and relax, have a cup of tea and maybe a nice chat, while they take a break from working on the frontlines during the pandemic.
"All of the volunteers have either been on furlough, grounded or have been made redundant from their airlines, and we wanted to do something in order to help the health service and offer our support. They are working in such a stressful environment and we are proud to be able to give them somewhere to wind down."
Ellis said the project has also given the flight crews a focus while they are unable to work and gives them something to work for every day.
