Flight attendants reveal which drink they hate to serve passengers the most

Want to keep on the right side of a flight attendant serving drinks?

Here’s the drink you must never ask for if you want to keep a smile on his or her face.

It’s Diet Coke - and it is the flight attendant’s worst enemy.

It takes a long to time to pour because air pressure means there is more fizz when the can is opened.

Airline crews say it they can serve an entire row in the time it takes to pour one Diet Coke.

Doctor reveals whether you should have air con on or off above your plane seat

One cabin crew member kindly revealed what this drink is on the crew blog These Gold Wings - so you can avoid angering the staff member working on the refreshment trolley.

The flight attendant explained, “As you may know, the aircraft cabin is not pressurised to sea level, but rather to the equivalent of about seven or eight thousand feet.

“This means some passengers might feel a little light headed or that alcohol affects them almost twice as much as it would on the ground.

“It also means soft drinks foam up a lot more when poured out of a can, and the worst culprit for this is Diet Coke — I literally have to sit and wait for the bubbles to fall before I can continue pouring.

“If all 3 passengers (in a row) ask for Diet Coke I’ll often get them started, take another three drink orders, serve those, and then finish the Diet Cokes.”

No doubt crew hope passengers will help make their lives a little easier by ordering something else.

And it might be a good idea to speed up the passage of the trolley and not annoy staff - and fellow passengers waiting for their turn.

Some crew members report being accused of working slowly when waiting for the Diet Coke to complete it’s journey into the glass.

But there might be some answers.

Some crew members suggest putting a wooden stirrer in the glass to give the bubbles a way to escape.

Others say putting some ice in the glass helps reduce the fizz while still more suggest pouring at an angle in the way that beer is poured.
