Flight attendant shares the best way to get upgraded to first class

A flight attendant has taken to TikTok to share the most frequently asked questions by passengers.

In a series of TikTok videos, @Cierrra_mistt gives her followers an insight into what life is like as an air hostess and some secret tips and tricks to help you have a better flight.

Most of us will only ever dream about catching a flight in first class, but that may all change as Cierra shared her tips on how to improve your chances of getting upgraded to first class.

She said: "So, I heard you guys wanna know how you can get free upgrades to first class. Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but there’s a lot of ways you can get free upgrades to first class."

She added: "One of the easiest ways to get free upgrades is literally just being nice to your gate agent and flight attendant. The miracles we can work when we're given some Starbucks or a bag of chocolates, especially those long days where we have back to back flights and don’t even have time to go get some food.

"Another common way that we move people all the way to the front, it's not just because we're being nice, but normally if our flight isn’t full, we have to move people for weight and balance purposes. That being said, normally all aircrafts are tail-heavy, so if we have to move people up to the front, where do you think we’re going to take them from? The back.”

Cierra also gave passengers an insight into why certain things happen before a flight takes off, even the real reason flight attendants greet passengers as they board the plane.

She said: “Ever wonder why we awkwardly stand at the entrance of the plane and greet you?

“While you may think we’re just saying hello or being friendly, what we’re doing is actually judging you hardcore, but not in the way you might think.

“While greeting you is a way of providing customer service, we’re more importantly looking you up and down trying to determine if you’d make a good ‘ABP’ or abled bodied passenger on our flight.

“A few good examples of ABP’s might be nurses, military, police basically passenger who might be able to assist flight attendants in case we had an emergency in flight.”
