Flight attendant leaves passenger in tears with note on 'thanks for flying' card

A travel journalist and influencer says she was left in tears after a flight attendant handed her a Black Lives Matter note at the end of her journey.

Kellee Edwards was flying first class from Phoenix to Chicago with American Airlines and as they prepared to touch down crew members handed out cards thanking passengers for choosing the airline.

It also included the name of the flight attendant who had been looking after her, John McCullough, who added a P.S. note in the bottom corner of Kellee's card.

The message read: "I see you. You matter. Black Lives Matter," along with three hearts.

She shared a photo of the message on Twitter (Kellee Edwards)

Kellee, a TV and podcast host, of the card with the message: "Now THIS is customer service. Such a simple gesture, but BEYOND meaningful. To simply be seen, in today’s climate and world.

"I may or may not be tearing up as a result. Ok, I AM. What an amazing Flight Attendant John is American Air! Thank you John!"

The airline spotted the tweet and replied to say: "We loved having you fly with us today and will gladly recognize John for taking fabulous care of you!"

After the exchange went viral, Good Morning America tracked down flight attendant John who said: "During this flight, the crew and I connected with Ms. Edwards, so I felt comfortable enough to share something more heartfelt than usual on her first class note.

"I immediately knew it was well received when I saw the happiness in her eyes and the smile behind her mask.

"I'm happy I get to work for a company that connects people and places and I'm beyond proud of American's [Airlines] actions to promote inclusivity."
