Flight attendant charged with indecent act

A NSW man will appear in Perth Magistrates Court charged with committing an indecent act on a plane. (AAP)

A 54-year-old flight attendant will face court after allegedly exposing himself to a colleague while onboard a domestic service from Perth to Melbourne last year.

The NSW man is facing one count of committing an indecent act and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday by video link from Sydney.

The Australian Federal Police say the man and a fellow flight attendant were both on duty in April last year and the alleged incident caused the woman significant distress.

They say the woman sent texts during the flight to a friend about the man's alleged behaviour and reported it to police after returning to Perth a few days later.

The AFP worked with the office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions to prepare a brief of evidence and charged the man in late 2019, but his case has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Senior Constable Steve Proud said the case should serve as a warning to people that alleged illegal behaviour in the air would be prosecuted on the ground.
