Flesh and Blood viewers finally discovered the identity of the victim and the attacker during tonight's explosive finale.
The gripping new ITV drama, which has had viewers on the edge of their seats over the last four nights, ended with a terrible tragedy at Viven's 70th birthday party.
Many viewers were convinced that creepy neighbour Mary was the possible killer and Mark was up to no good - but the reality was far more disturbing.
The dramatic final episode tied up many loose ends but left viewers with tonnes of questions - with a cliffhanger ending setting up a possible second series.
After discovering that Mark's first wife took her own life, Vivien's kids were convinced he was trying to kill their mum.
Events spiralled out of control during the speeches with Jake and Mark having to be separated.
As tensions boiled over, Vivien collapsed on the floor, leading her worried family to surround her.
Retired surgeon Mark tried to reach his wife but was stop by her kids - resulting in him punching Jake in the face.
Furious Jake then charged at Mark and shoved him off the balcony - with his step dad smashing his head on a rock below.
With the kids panicking, it was up to Mary to sort out the mess and come up with a plan to save them all.
The kindly neighbour told the police that Mark drank way too much and lost his footing before slipping and Viv collapsed from the shock.
But the reality was far more distressing, as viewers watched Mary find unconscious Mark on the ground.
She told the police that she tried mouth to mouth but she actually held his nose and covered his mouth to stop him breathing.
The detectives believed her story and were convinced it was an accident as doctors could nt say if he fell or was pushed, so decided to close the case .
They revealed that Mark had been telling the truth and his daughter was flying back from Spain.
The family all gathered for a meal with Mary, who had a massive grin on her face, while Vivien remained silent and distant.
The series ended on a cliffhanger as Mark woke up in a shock twist - so will he get revenge in a second series?
