Fleetwood boss Joey Barton praises Nottingham Forest loanee Tyler Walker after Lincoln City double

Joey Barton has praised the attacking prowess of Nottingham Forest youngster Tyler Walker.

The 22-year-old scored twice in as many minutes on Saturday for loan club Lincoln City as they romped to a 2-0 win at home to Fleetwood Town.

The Imps were in action just three days on from their dramatic 4-2 defeat to Everton in the Carabao Cup, but were back at their best at Sincil Bank.

And Walker's opener was the pick of his double as his movement in the Fleetwood area allowed him to wrestle goal-side of his marker before arrowing a diving header past Matt Gilks and into the net - a goal that had Barton impressed.

"It [the first goal] was a bit of quality so you have to give them a bit of credit," said Barton.

"It was a quality ball in and a great run from the young lad [Walker] to nip across our centre-back.

Tyler Walker was named as Lincoln City's man of the match against Fleetwood (Anna Draper/ Lincolnshire Echo)

He added: "It’s just those moments that are the difference between a good team and a not-so-good team. We’ve got to learn our lessons."

Walker's two goals for Danny Cowley's side took his tally to four in as many games as he looks to build on his 26-goal season for Mansfield Town in League Two last term.
