A suspected drug dealer fleeing police on a moped was today under arrest after being collared by “hero” bystanders in Soho.

The man rammed into a pedestrian and police officer as he attempted to evade capture in Soho Street at 7.51pm last night.

Footage shows the bike coming round a corner pursued by one man, before three others joined the chase.

The rider, who appeared to be carrying a passenger, then loses control of the bike.

Scotland Yard said officers had earlier attempted to stop the man but he made off.

Mairi Ankers, a 31-year-old project manager, said: “As the motorbike came round the corner, two guys grabbed the driver round the neck. They are real heroes.”

Annabel Fleming, a 31-year-old civil servant, added: “This guy was still driving as someone jumped on the back and grabbed him.”

Scotland Yard said: “Police attempted to stop a man on a moped in Soho Street.

“The male then made off from officers. The moped was then involved in a collision with a member of the public and an officer.

“Both the member of the public and officer have been taken to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

“One man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.”
