Fleabag star says show will end after final episode of season two: 'There will not be a third series'

Fleabag will end after the final episode of the current second series, according to one of its lead actors.

Sian Clifford, who plays Fleabag's (Phoebe Waller Bridge) sister Claire, appeared on BBC Breakfast where she said "there will not be a third series".

"I've described it online as this beautiful perfect ending, and I think it is but I think what it's closer to is poetry," Clifford says.

She added: "I think people will accept this is the end when they see it, because I think it is complete. I think the story is complete."

Fleabag has received critical acclaim since the first series aired in 2016 and became known for its witty dialogue and the main character's penchant for breaking the fourth wall, where she speaks to the camera.

The second series began in March – starring Bridge, Clifford, Olivia Colman and Andrew Scott – and will conclude with the finale on 8 April.
