Fleabagactor Andrew Scott performed Derek Mahon’s “Everything is Going to be All Right” as part of Emilia Clarke’s poetry reading Instagram series.
Scott joined forces with the Game of Thrones star to perform the piece by Irish poet Mahon, which is described as a poem of “reassurance”, in support of Men Against Cancer Ireland.
Sat against a brick wall, the actor filmed himself reading the poem, which was chosen for its positive message during the time of the coronavirus pandemic.
Scott is seen smiling as he reads Mahon’s soothing words: “The sun rises in spite of everything / and the far cities are beautiful and bright. / I lie here in a riot of sunlight / watching the day break and the clouds flying. / Everything is going to be all right.”
The Irish actor performed the piece as part of Clarke’s “Poetry Pharmacy” Instagram series, which has seen actors including Stephen Fry, Idris Elba and Helena Bonham Carter read poems aimed to boost the mood from the Poetry Pharmacy anthology.
Earlier this month, Scott revealed that he took the role of the Hot Priest in Fleabag to stop being typecast as a villain after appearances in Sherlock and James Bond’s Spectre.
