Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge hired to help 'polish' James Bond 25 script

BBC/Two Brothers/Luke Varley

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator and star of Fleabag, has reportedly been hired to liven up the script of the upcoming 25th James Bond film.

Daniel Craig, who plays 007, allegedly requested Waller-Bridge look at the script and hoped the comedian would bring her “wit and quirkiness” to the screenplay.

The Observer reports that sources say Craig is a fan of both Fleabag and Killing Eve, the thriller series Waller-Bridge adapted for the screen.

Waller-Bridge has been performing her Fleabag stand-up routine in Los Angeles for the past few weeks.

Sources told the publication that Craig asked the actor and writer to come on board and help polish the script by introducing offbeat humour.

The next Bond film has had a difficult production. Danny Boyle was initially set to co-write and direct the film, but parted ways with the producers following creative differences.

Cary Joji Fukunaga has since taken over, with the film now going by the working title “Eclipse”. Reports previously claimed that Bond 25 had the working title “Shatterhand”which was used in the books as an alias for arch villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

There have also been reports that Bohemian Rhapsody actor Rami Malek has been approached to play the villain and that Bond will drive an electric car in the film.
