Fleabag's guinea pig cafe opens in Waterstones Piccadilly

Still mourning the loss of Fleabag from our screens? If you missed out on tickets to see Phoebe Waller-Bridge live at the Southbank Centre, then this might be the next best thing — a visit to the guinea-pig cafe.

Waterstones Piccadilly has recreated the famous set from the TV series, and although it won’t be a functioning cafe — that means no cheese sandwiches for £12.50, sadly — there are plenty of faithful nods to Fleabag.

A guinea pig-shaped sign advertises “Chatty Wednesday”, while the controversial gold statuette, which Waller-Bridge’s character steals from her father’s partner in the programme, takes pride of place on one of the shelves.

Plenty of guinea pig snaps and memorabilia adorn the set, as does a hutch, with a picture of Fleabag’s late friend Boo also featuring.

The recreated cafe has been built to coincide with the release of a new book, Fleabag: The Scriptures. It collates all the scripts from the series, as well as some never-before-seen stage directions, as well as new writing from Waller-Bridge.

The Fleabag Cafe can be found on the third floor of Waterstones Piccadilly. It is free to attend and will stay open until Sunday November 17.
