Flea ridden cat gives birth to four tiny kittens after rescue mission by SSPCA

A cat has given birth during lockdown – after a lifesaving rescue missing by the SSPCA.

Poppy was discovered by officers of the Scottish SPCA while she was heavily pregnant and with a “horrendous” flea allergy.

Thankfully she was expertly cared for and her four kittens arrived healthy.

A spokesperson for the SSPCA said: “With care and treatment from our brilliant staff, she and her kittens are doing great.”

The animal welfare charity have launched a campaign urging people not to forget about the plight of animals during the coronavirus lockdown.

The charity say they are needed more than ever and are responding to over 140 reports of animals in need every day.

A spokesperson said: “Poppy is just one of hundreds of animals we've rescued during the #coronavirus pandemic.

“Please #DontForgetTheAnimals. Become an #AnimalChampion and help cats like Poppy and her young for just a small monthly donation”.
