Flat up for sale in Glasgow's stunning secret 'Wes Anderson' building

Fans of comedy The Grand Budapest Hotel might want to get on the phone to the estate agents pronto - as a flat has just gone up for sale in Glasgow's stunning secret 'Wes Anderson' building.

A three-bed duplex apartment has been listed for sale online in the former Stonelaw Public School/Rutherglen Academy building on Melrose Avenue in Rutherglen, a Category B listed structure dating back to 1886.

We featured the building in an article last month, having been absolutely bowled over by the West Anderson-type aesthetic and colour scheme of the interior of the building - one it gained after it was redeveloped into 36 residential apartments back in 2001.

At the time, resident Graham McCarey told Glasgow Live: "Even after two years living here, it's quite magical to step out in the atrium area. Every time somebody steps through the doors into it for the first time it always elicits quite a stunned response."

The corner duplex apartment is spread over the ground and first floor levels and has three bedrooms, two public rooms, a study and a fully refurbished 4-piece bathroom.

Occupying a position at the westerly edge of the building, it enjoys views along Melrose Avenue and beyond in what the flat advertisement describes as 'a sought-after pocket of Rutherglen.

And if the Wes Anderson-style atrium wasn't enough of a reason to attract movie lovers, the old school was once attended by Stan Laurel of Laurel and Hardy fame when he was a youngster.

There's no doubt this place is worth a look, even if to kid on you have somehow found yourself in the The Grand Budapest Hotel!
