Flat-pack home costs just £30k, only takes SIX hours to build and is stunning inside

House prices may have recently slowed down in their increase, but many of us are still a long way off from cobbling together a deposit.

Even years of scrimping and saving don't guarantee home ownership. Thanks, housing shortage!

But if you've all but given up on the idea of one day buying a place to call your own, then there's an alternative.

Renato Vidal is an architect from Italy and he's created a flat-pack house which costs just a fraction of the average UK home and it takes less than a day to build.

It's also earthquake-proof, which is reassuring.

The folding home will set you back £29,928 and as time-lapse footage shows, the prefab home can be ready to inhabit in just six to seven hours - although you will need three people to assist.

Each of the M.A.Di homes span two floors and comes equipped with a kitchen, dining area and fitted bathrooms.

You can choose the size of home you like, from a dinky 290-square-feet one-bedroom home for €34,900 (£29,998) to a 904-square-feet family home, which comes in on €89,900 (£77,091).

As well as being affordable and easily constructed, the M.A.Di home is an eco-friendly dwelling, as owners can live completely off-grid thanks to its solar panels and LED lighting.

So is there a catch?

Well, the homes are produced in Italy but can be shipped to the UK for a hefty fee which equates to about 30 per cent of the total cost of the home.

This means it could set you back between £8,999 and £23,217 to get the flat-pack home to you.

Unfortunately you won't be able to buy the cheapest option for living in the UK, as legislation states residential dwellings must be over 28 square metres.

Still tempted? MADi recommends checking with your local authority before buying one of its houses.
