Flat Earther calls Phillip Schofield liar on This Morning during heated clash over ice wall

Phillip Schofield recently clashed with what This Morning viewers have called a "deluded" flat-Earth conspiracist.

The clash happened on This Morning on Tuesday, February 11 after Mark Sargent said the earth is flat and surrounded by an ice wall.

Mirror Online reports he believes there is a conspiracy to stop the public finding out we all live on a flat disc and that all astronauts are in fact military officers.

Phillip Schofield can fly a Concorde so he has seen the curvature of the earth at 65,000ft. For Phillip, this was proof enough that the Earth is in fact round.

However, the flat Earther hit back claiming there is weather balloon footage from 120,000ft which apparently shows the earth to be "table top flat."

Mark went on to say the American astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson, who he claims is "the world's most famous scientist," says no civilian has ever seen the curvature of the earth.

Holly Willoughby quizzed Phillip on whether he was lying. But, Mark said: "No, I'm not saying that you're lying. I'm saying you wanted to see the curvature."

Interjecting, Phillip said: "But don't you want to believe that it's flat. I've got more proof than you do."

Mark was even confronted with live footage from a space station, to which he claimed this was a massive cover up using CGI.

Holly then became curious, asking why anyone would bother faking it, to which Mark replied the human race "weren't ready" to find out the devastating truth.

Mark said: "Pilots, scientists, astrophysicists like Brian Cox, none of them have anything to do with it. Generals know the battle plans but most of the officers don’t."

Mark says we don't fall off the edge of the world because Antarctica goes all the way around but there is more land outside the wall that humans have never visited before.

According to his theory, the north pole is in the centre and the south pole doesn't even exist.

But Mark failed to provide proof for this, muttering instead about how the Antarctic Treaty "forbids it" and "none of this stuff is secret information."

The interview ended with Phillip sarcastically suggesting everyone go on holiday to the ice wall.

Phillip could not hide his shock (ITV)

Admitting we could handle the earth being flat, he said: "I say of all the things going on in the world, of everything happening, I think we would cope.

"Stop spending all then money on CGI and space products and lets build some hospitals. Let's go there and see whats on the other side. There could be nicer places to be. We could go on holiday there."

This Morning viewers quickly took to Twitter to hit back at the flat earther's claims.

One disagreeing viewer said: "This guy is deluded. Why waste your time with him? Forget images from space. I am ex royal navy and have seen the curvature of the earth from ground level at sea. How would he explain that?"

"This guy is just a pathetic cynical man that believes everyone is lying and actors everywhere. Get a new hobby," added another.

A third said: "I can't cope with this level of stupid on #ThisMorning haven't these #FlatEarth believers got anything better to do with their time? "

"Can’t believe this guy actually believes the earth is flat but can’t answer when asked what’s beyond Antarctica as you cannot go there! Bless him," said a fourth.
