Simply Marvel-lous, Mayfair

Superstars and superheroes united at the Curzon Mayfair for the European premiere of Captain Marvel.

The Captain herself — Brie Larson — walked the blue carpet in custom-made cobalt and gold Valentino, matching both the carpet and her character’s costume, while co-star Gemma Chan chummed up with Jude Law and Samuel L Jackson.

Runaway Success, Kensington

Off to the sultry, black-painted bar at Blakes Hotel to celebrate the launch of Fatima Bhutto’s new novel, The Runaways — fittingly held on World Book Day. Jemima Khan and Martha Ward braved the drizzle to nibble arancini and miso-spiked black cod with Geordie Greig, while designer Gül Hürgel brought the sparkle in her sequinned Mary Janes.

National Treasures, South Bank

Cate Blanchett and Olivia Colman joined National Theatre director Rufus Norris to knock back Nyetimber at the theatre’s biennial fundraising gala, before a very British dinner of roast beef and sticky toffee pudding. A record-breaking £1.17 million was raised, thanks in part to a silent auction. The top prize? Dance lessons with Strictly choreographer, Bill Deamer.
