JEWEL IN THE CROWN, Mayfair
It was glorious frocks and glinting diamonds all round at the reopening of Chopard’s Bond Street boutique, but it was the sustainable theme that really wowed us: Marion Cotillard and Julianne Moore arrived by electric, Chopard-branded black cabs; Philippa Craddock designed floral displays with seasonal blooms; and even the menu of ceviche and smoked chicken was sourced locally.
NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM, Kensington
With Dior at the helm, the V&A’s Summer Party was never going to be anything less than extraordinarily chic. New Look-style topiary decorated the courtyard, Joy Crookes performed and Lady Amelia Windsor and Jenna Coleman turned up in their best togs (Dior, obvs). The high point of the evening? A towering buffet of macarons and madeleines, extravagant enough to make Marie Antoinette proud.
AA GRADE, Hammersmith
Gwendoline Christie, Dame Joan Collins and the cream of London’s food scene descended on The River Café for the inaugural Sunday Times AA Gill Award for emerging food writers, founded by Flora Gill, the legendary food critic’s daughter. Flora presented Kitty Drake with the prize before everyone sat down to zucchini ravioli and wild turbot. Hands down, a five-star evening.
