As we noted, the Washington Redskins could be big winners if the New York Giants can’t find a way to bring back free-agent safety Landon Collins.
For the most part, this pertained to the idea the Redskins would benefit from not having to play against Collins anymore. But there was something else worth noting: The Redskins could sure use a safety.
Now recall a certain bit of information about Collins before the 2015 draft:
We’re just having fun here, of course — what else is a draft prospect supposed to say? Anything otherwise, he risks burning bridges with a team that might have drafted him.
But it serves as a fun reminder that Collins is one of the best safeties set to hit the open market. Thanks to playing him twice a year, the Redskins know him well. They also happen to have a need.
Perhaps the Redskins can convince Collins his dream is still obtainable.
