Flashback: Feeling the scars of the Browns summer of 2017

Read this to the tune of “Let’s See How Far We’ve Come” by Matchbox 20…

I decided to look back two years into the Browns Wire archives to see what we were discussing in June of 2017. Just seeing some of the article titles is a cold blast of the reality of just how lost this Browns franchise was. Sure there was optimism and the core of some young talent was emerging, but even wishful thinking on behalf of some situations seems crazy in retrospect.

Some of the articles from the week of June 13th, 2017:

Cameron Erving: move to right tackle ‘definitely going well’

Ricardo Louis: ‘I’ve definitely taken a step forward’

Yeah, those things definitely did not happen…

Calvin Pryor grateful for fresh start in Cleveland

That did not materialize either. These next two came a day apart:

Brock Osweiler: ‘my fundamentals slid,’ praises Cleveland coaching

DeShone Kizer signs rookie deal with Browns

Who can forget the epic four-headed training camp battle between Osweiler, Kizer, Kevin Hogan and Cody Kessler? I wish I could…

To channel another late 90s/early 00s rock band, Papa Roach,

“The scars remind us that the past is real”.

Thank you, John Dorsey!
