Flash flooding in Renfrewshire after heavy rain

Parts of Johnstone and Kilbarchan were flooded on Friday night and Saturday following a very heavy fall of rain.

However, Renfrewshire Counciil said the problem was short lived and was cleared after drains were cleaned out.

More heavy rain is forecast from noon today, according to the Met Office.

The forecaster said scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop during the afternoon and evening.

Whilst many areas will miss the worst of these storms, torrential downpours are likely in some places.

Where downpours occur, close to 30mm rain is possible in a relatively short space of time and 30 to 50mm rain could fall in a couple of hours, the Met Office added.
