Flares and smoke bombs thrown for Flag Day in rowdy scenes outside Three Lions pub in Bedminster

Bristol City fans met outside the Three Lions pub in Bedminster today for their annual Flag Day celebration.

The gathering happens every year after the first match of the season and today (Saturday, August 7) tributes were made for one of the late founders and ex-boss Terry Cooper.

Robins supporters brought out flags as they gathered on West Street, with, flares, smoke and the sound of chanting in the air.

They also paid homage to Paul Surridge, known as Scooter, one of the founders of the rowdy event, more than 20 years ago.

A video showed fans chanting as red smoke hangs overhead, raising their hands and letting off flares to celebrate the two influential men.

Drivers passed slowly through the crowd, which had spilled onto the road in south Bristol, sometimes filling the street with dancing.
