Flamingo Land's £30m Loch Lomond resort plans to reach next stage

The deadline for statutory objections to the controversial Flamingo Land development has passed.

Tuesday, July 2, marked the last day for submissions of representations on the hotly-contested £30million resort bid from bodies such as the council and SEPA.

More than 55,000 objections were contributed to Green MSP Ross Greer’s online portal.

We also told how West Dunbartonshire Council tabled a rejection as their formal response to the planning bid, set to be decided by Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park planners.

Plans tabled by the Yorkshire firm will not be branded as a Flamingo Land site, but are set to feature a hotel, bunkhouse accommodation and self-catering lodges.

Facilities for “water-based recreation” will be created if the bid is rubber-stamped, including a swimming pool, water park, cafe, restaurant and
brewery.

Under the plan, Woodbank House would be extended and converted to flats, with additional self-catering accommodation, monorail and external activity areas.

The development has received a mixed response locally, with concerns over the impact of additional traffic on the area’s roads network and wildlife.
