Flames were seen roaring through Southport train station earlier this afternoon after a fire caused major disruption for customers.
Shocking footage showed the rail station glowing orange as a fire could be seen inside, at about 5.15pm today.
Fire crews were called to the rail station to reports of a fire on the track.
A spokeswoman for the force confirmed the fire was "already out" as two fire engines arrived, but crews worked to cool the tracks down.
The fire service said it's believed an electrical box and debris were thought to have been involved in the fire.
Nearby witnesses reported smelling "burning rubber" on social media, as crews rushed to the scene.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said: "MFRS attended an incident at Southport station on Monday May 3 following a report of fire on the track.
"Crews were alerted at 5.16pm and on the scene at 5.19pm.sou
"Two engines attended.
"On arrival, the fire was already out but crews used water to cool the tracks after the electrics were isolated.
"An electrical box and debris were thought to have been involved."
Crews left the scene at about 5.48pm, but Merseyrail warned there could be delays into the night.

In a statement, Merseyrail said on its website: "Cancellations to services at Southport due to an operational incident at Southport the Southport and Hunts Cross line is disrupted.
Train services running to and from this station may be cancelled or delayed.
"Disruption is expected until 20:00 03/05.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."
