Huge flames ripped through an abandoned house as fire crews battled to tackle the blaze.
Emergency services were called to Bentley Road, in Toxteth, shortly before 8.30pm on Tuesday after neighbours reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the empty property.
Two fire engines and multiple police officers closed the road as firefighter began working to tackle the fire from the street.
People living in the area said that bright flames cut through the boarded up windows before fire crews arrived at the scene.
Pictures taken outside the property showed firefighters using hoses to bring the fire under control.
Two PCSO's from Merseyside Police were also at the scene to assist with road closures and to help firefighters by keeping people away from the area.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue told the ECHO : "We are currently in attendance on Bentley Road, in Toxteth, after a fire broke out at a property.
"Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene at 8.25pm and are currently dealing with the incident."
The cause of the fire is not yet clear but it is not believed that anyone had to be rescued from the building or was injured in the fire.
