Flames engulf electricity box as emergency services closed major Nottingham road

These pictures show flames engulfing an electricity box in the north of Nottingham.

Eyewitness Ashley Holmes says police and fire fighters attended the incident just after 10pm on Wednesday, November 24.

Flames could be seen bursting from an electricity box off the A610, Nuthall Road, near the Iceland supermarket.

An extensive fire cordon was set up in the area while fire fighters dealt with the incident.

The road from the B6004 (Stockhill Lane) to the B6008 (Bells Lane) was closed as a result.

The fire services closed the road at about 10.30pm to assist with an electricity box that had set on fire. The road was reopened at around 11.15pm.

The possible danger to the public and road users resulted in the closure.

The road remains open as of this morning (November 25).

Images show substantial damage to the electricity box, with debris and soot covering the pavement.
