Flamengo striker linked with Tottenham transfer delivers 'mega' Spurs verdict

Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa has labelled Tottenham Hotspur as “a mega team” amid rumours linking him with a move to north London.

The 24-year-old, who swapped Inter Milan for Flamengo in January of last year, has been in sensational form of late, having netted 68 goals in 96 games for the Brazilian giants, including 21 goals in 38 games just last season, earning him the just nickname, 'Gabigol'.

According to the Sun, he is back on the radar for some unnamed Premier League clubs, with West Ham and Tottenham amongst the names being touted as a possible destination.

And, in an interview with the same publication, the Brazilian star hinted that he would like to return to Europe one day.

"I played my role, I dedicated myself to the maximum in training, my Italian course, my adaptation, nutrition.

"Today, a few years later, I know I could have done some different things.

"My experience in Europe was a very quick story, I still feel frustrated."

In addition to feeling frustrated, Barbosa commented on his love of Premier League football, and had nothing but good words to say about a number of clubs, including Tottenham and their London rivals, West Ham.

"I still watch it now. I really like Pep Guardiola’s style at Manchester City, Chelsea managed to form a great team with Thomas Tuchel's hands.

"Liverpool have a very interesting team and a fantastic coach. Tottenham is a mega team and I really enjoyed the West Ham season. I'm a big fan of Premier League football."

He obviously wants to prove his doubters wrong one day, and perhaps he will do that in England.
