Fixtures revealed for Manchester United and Man City fans to return

The wait for fans to return in the Premier League is almost over.

Manchester City 's clash against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final last weekend welcomed 8,000 fans spectators to Wembley, and the clash was part of the UK Government's Events Research Programme.

The game was used "to collect evidence and collate best practice for managing and mitigating transmission risk," according to the EFL, and after its resounding success, fans will soon return across England.

And now, the Premier League has announced its fixtures which, fingers crossed, will see Manchester United and Man City fans return.

Working in cohesion with the government's roadmap out of lockdown, clubs are expecting to welcome up to 10,000 fans to return to stadiums - or 25 per cent of the capacity - from May 17 and that figure will also now include up to 500 away supporters.

Old Trafford is expected to welcome crowds back for United's game against Fulham - expected to be in the week of May 17 - but the Etihad will have to wait longer for the return of Blues fans with City's home fixture against Everton on the last day of the season earmarked.

Of course, the date for City's clash against Everton is Sunday 23 May and supporters will be hoping to give club legend Sergio Aguero a fitting farewell after a glittering 10-year spell in Manchester.
