A stunning castle in Argyll that comes with 14 bedrooms, its own holiday cottage and fantastic views of the coast has just going on sale.
Kilberry Castle, which can be found just outside the village of Kilberry between Tarbert and Lochgilphead, is an imposing historic 15th-century tower house.
The intriguing property, which has fallen into a state of disrepair in recent years, is described by sale agents Knight Frank as offering great potential for someone looking to take on a project at a great price.
Speaking of which, the castle, holiday cottage, large walled garden and extensive grounds are on the market for offers over £650k.

The Castle
Clan Campbell took ownership of Kilberry lands in 1550 and the family have owned the castle ever since.

Featuring four floors, the extended Tower house property has many historic features including a great hallway, original open fireplaces, galleried landings, an elegant dining room, and a drawing room with sea views.

It also comes with an orangery/conservatory, a library with fitted book shelves, a billiards room with cupola, and a number of well proportioned bedrooms with superb views, as well as two bathrooms located in the turrets.
Laundry Cottage
A short distance away from the Castle, off the main driveway, lies the Laundry Cottage which is currently used as a holiday let and offers fabulous coastal views across to Islay and Jura, Gigha and the Mull of Kintyre.
Surrounding grounds and walled garden

The formal lawns to the front of the property are surrounded by a mixture of mature deciduous woodland which provide a haven for birds and red squirrels.
A short walk leads to the 19th century walled garden which extends out to about 1.5 acres and was previously used for the growing of tree fruit, soft fruit, grapevines, vegetables and flowers for the castle.
Situated on the northeast corner of the walled garden is the Victorian pets graveyard, while Kilberry Bay and a beautiful safe, secluded beach can be accessed by foot within ten minutes over the neighbouring fields.

Planning permission
A short distance away from the cottage within a spinney of woodland, there is planning consent to construct a 4-bedroom house, two storey house on a site just to the north of Laundry Cottage.
Planning consent was originally consented in August 2011, it has recently been renewed and is valid until 12 August 2023.
