FiveThirtyEight predicts the Redskins will end 2019 near the bottom of the NFL

The NFL season starts Thursday night with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears kicking things off, so pundits are working to get their final playoff predictions out into the ether. If you’re a fan of the New England Patriots or the Los Angeles Rams, these are fun article reads that can spur on banter and boost egos. For the Washington Redskins, not so much.

According to the popular polling website, FiveThirtyEight, the Redskins are expected to finish near the bottom of the league, ending up with a 6-10 record, which is good for 27th in the league.

It is incredibly important to note here that FiveThirtyEight has a streaky history with major predictions, especially when they involve Washington D.C. In 2016, they predicited that Hillary Clinton would win the Presidential Election in a landslide over Donald Trump, and, well….

If we’re being honest with ourselves, the Redskins making the playoffs this year would be a longshot, though it is still possible. With a 16% chance to make the postseason, it appears that FiveThirtyEight agrees. Let’s just hope that they end up being as wrong about this as they have been about some things in the past.
