Five year old left with 'bone sticking out of his leg' following Tallaght hit and run

A five-year-old boy was left with a "bone sticking out of his leg" after he was mowed down in a shocking hit-and-run incident in Tallaght.

Noah Rae Kenna was raced to hospital after he was struck by a car at around 8:30pm on Saturday evening.

The car failed to remain at the scene and little Noah was left lying on the side of the road on Fortunestown Lane in agony with a bone sticking out of one leg and tyre marks on the other.

His distraught mum Jennifer has urged witnesses to come forward in a bid to track down the thoughtless driver.

"Some neighbours called to my door and told me he had been knocked down. It felt like the longest run in my life to get to him," she told the Herald.

"All I could do was hold him. I lay down with him and put his head in my lap and rubbed his little face. He was in agony.

"How could anyone drive off and leave a child on the road like that, do they not have children or nieces or nephews?

"I'm looking for answers and for people to come forward with information.

"The bone was sticking out of Noah's leg, and there are tyre marks on his other leg. He had to have surgery and I think the surgeons put metal rods in his leg."

Gardai have appealed for anyone witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage of the shocking incident to contact them.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Anyone who was in the vicinity of Fortunestown Lane between 8.00pm and 9.00pm on Saturday evening, 12th September 2020 should make contact.

"Gardai are particularly appealing to any road users who may have camera (dash-cam) footage, and who were driving in the Fortunestown Lane, Tallaght area yesterday evening, to make it available to them.

"Anyone with any information should contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
