According to police officials, the car was being driven by a man from Mundhwa Road who had entered the society to drop a friend near one of the buildings. While moving through the internal road, the vehicle hit the child, who was unaware of the approaching car.
CCTV footage from the society’s surveillance system has captured the moments leading up to the accident and is now circulating on social media. The video shows the child riding his bicycle moments before the impact. It also records the driver rushing out of the car, residents gathering at the spot, and the injured child being placed back into the vehicle to be taken to a hospital.
The boy was rushed to a nearby private hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The child’s father, aged 40, has lodged a complaint with the police, accusing the driver of rash and negligent driving resulting in death. Based on the complaint, police have initiated an investigation into the case.
Officials said they are closely examining the CCTV footage to reconstruct the sequence of events, including assessing the speed of the car at the time of the collision.
The incident has sparked anger among residents of the society, who have questioned how a vehicle could be driven at high speed within residential premises. Many have demanded strict action against the driver and called for stronger safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
