With the help of communities, schools, organisations and individual volunteers, the Woodland Trust has established thousands of hectares of new woods. But precious ancient woodlands – our richest terrestrial habitat for native wildlife – now cover just 2% of the UK, meaning there’s never been a more urgent time to help preserve these areas. Fortunately, there are many ways you can help to preserve the UK’s woodlands.
1. Sign up to save the trees
Become a Woodland Trust member and you’ll not only be helping to save our woods, you’ll also receive a woodland directory, a guide to British trees, dedicated tree and regular copies of Broadleaf magazine. Sign up at: woodlandtrust.org.uk/join
2. Harness kid power
If your children’s Minecraft obsession is out of control, it could be time for them to join the Woodland Trust’s Nature Detectives. With great ideas for outdoor adventuring, weekly challenges and activities, this digital detox could convince your children that not all fun is dependent on battery life.
