Five-vehicle crash sparks major emergency service response in Tottington

A five-vehicle crash sparked a major emergency service response in Bury this afternoon.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Bower Street in Tottington at 5pm on Monday (May 24).

Witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance land nearby.

Those involved suffered no serious injuries, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.

Fire crews remained in the area to make the scene safe while stabilising some of the damaged vehicles.

Traffic disruption is expected into the evening.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 5pm this afternoon we were called to assist at the scene of a five-vehicle road traffic collision on Bower Street, Tottington.

“There were reports of smoke from some of the vehicles.

“Firefighters have made the scene safe, have stabilised some of the more damaged vehicles to assist Ambulance crews, and are helping Greater Manchester Police colleagues keep the scene safe.

“There are no serious injuries, but there will be traffic disruption into the evening.
