Five vehicle crash on the N7 causes traffic standstill during rush hour

A five vehicle crash on the N7 outbound caused chaos for commuters this evening as traffic was brought to a standstill.

The crash happened at the Newlands Cross flyover after 5pm.

The road was fully closed for approximately half an hour while emergency services responded to the scene, before one lane was reopened.

The road was fully reopened after 7pm.

The crash caused severe delays in the Ballymount and Red Cow areas.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

In a tweet, Dublin Fire Brigade thanked the public "for their patience" this evening.

They said: "We've just finished on scene at a five vehicle collision on the #N7 Naas Road outbound at Newlands Cross.

"The road was temporarily closed but lanes have now reopened. Thanks for your patience this evening."
