Former Liverpool goalkeeper Andy Lonergan joined arch rivals Everton on a free transfer in a peculiar move on Friday.
In doing so, Lonergan became just the sixth player to play for both clubs in the Premier League era and the first to switch from red to blue in 15 years.
The 37-year-old has joined Rafa Benitez’s side on a deal until the end of the season after leaving West Brom earlier in the summer.
But Lonergan isn’t the only goalkeeper to make a strange transfer in the Premier League, with a number of candidates staking their claim for the title.
With that in mind, Mirror Sport reflects on five other unusual goalkeeper transfers that have happened in recent times...
Scott Carson to Man City

The former England international joined Manchester City from Derby in 2021 after spending two seasons at the club on loan, which saw him make just one appearance.
Carson had previously been the number one choice in goal at Derby, but became Man City’s reserve behind first-choice Ederson and flop Claudio Bravo.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, the 35-year-old has made just one appearance for the champions, which came in a 4-3 away win over Newcastle at the back end of the previous campaign.
Despite that, he recently won a new one-year deal to stay with the champions.
Joe Hart to Tottenham

Hart’s career took a dramatic turn for the worst after losing his place at Man City in 2016 when Bravo arrived from Spanish outfit Real Sociedad - and not much has gone right for him since.
The 34-year-old joined Spurs from Burnley last summer after failing to make a single league appearance at Turf Moor during his second season at the club.
Hart was used sparingly by Jose Mourinho during his time in north London, making a handful of Europa League appearances.
He subsequently departed the club earlier in the month after being deemed surplus to requirements by new boss Nuno Espirito Santo and signed a deal with Scottish outfit Celtic.
Tom Heaton to Man Utd

Heaton left the club where he began his career back in 2010 to join Cardiff after struggling for game time at Old Trafford.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought the 35-year-old back to Old Trafford this summer, despite already having a number of experienced goalkeepers at the club in David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant.
Heaton, like all the other goalkeepers in this list will be used sparingly, if at all.
Lee Grant to Man Utd
Heaton isn’t the only goalkeeper to make a peculiar switch to Old Trafford, with Lee Grant a surprise signing in Jose Mourinho's final months at the club.
In fact, the English giants have a history of doing so after Lee Grant made the strange transfer from Stoke to United in 2018.
After three seasons in Manchester, the 38-year-old has made just two appearances for the Red Devils.
But his journey with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will continue after penning a one-year extension in July.
Ross Turnbull to Chelsea
Turnbull joined Carlo Ancelotti’s Blues in 2009 on a free transfer after Middlesbrough were relegated to the Championship.
The former Boro man had just 27 Premier League appearances to his name when the Italian coach came calling but was regarded as a talented stopper.
But Turnbull barely got a sniff at Chelsea and remained as Petr Cech’s backup throughout his time with the Blues.
Turnbull would make just seven league appearances across four Premier League seasons at Stamford Bridge, before departing for Doncaster in 2013.
