Five TV shows to watch now that Ireland's Fittest Family is over - from RTE like-for-like to Netflix picks

Last night’s final of Ireland’s Fittest Family had people cheering at home along with the Davy Fitzgerald and the his wining Mahoney family.

But as Mahoney family settle for a well-deserved rest, we are left with gameshow hole in our hearts and schedules.

Davy’s Toughest Team – 9.35pm - RTE One

From one finale to another. After last week’s emotional episode where the group were told they wouldn’t make the trip to Mount Everest due to COVID-19 pandemic, this week’s episode is set to be an emotional juggernaut for both the team and fans at home as the young men head up Carrauntoohil.

Regularly receiving rave reviews online, the series shows a group of young men facing issues such as addiction, isolation, homelessness and mental health challenges coached by Fittest Family favourite Davy Fitzgerald.

Fittest in Dubai – Netflix

This documentary follows the first-ever CrossFit Sanctional event, which sees the male and female winner qualify for the CrossFit Games in the US.

If you thought the Fittest Families had it hard, imagine doing this four-day competition packed with challenges in the scorching heat of the Dubai.

The Titan Games – Netflix

Hosted by WWE and Hollywood legend Dwayne Johnson, this Gladiator-esque gameshow challenges athletes from across America to compete in gruelling physical challenges for a prize of $100,000.

Overcoming physical setbacks and personal tragedies, the first season of The Titan Games shows a mix of physical prowess and emotional vulnerability that’s on par with the Fittest Family .

Ultimate Beastmaster - Netflix

With Sylvester Stallone as executive producer for the show, you know it’s going to push physical limits.

Bearing a striking resemblance to Ninja Warrior, Ultimate Beastmaster sees athletic champions from around the world try to conquer this insane obstacle course.

With three seasons available on Netlflix, just watching this series will get your blood pumping.

The Floor is Lava – Netflix

For those you enjoy a healthy amount of humour with their physical challenges, The Floor is Lava takes a beloved childhood game and blows it up to epic proportions.
