Behind the goal Mason Greenwood scored into at The Molineux, swathes upon swathes of Portugal flags could be seen in the stands.
But, perhaps for the only time this season, the Portuguese flags were not waved by Wolves, they were flown by United fans welcoming back their hero Cristiano Ronaldo.
Many believed the return of the five-time Ballon D’Or and five-time Champions League winner was the ultimate crescendo to a remarkable transfer window for United.
However, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, perhaps fortuitously, beating Wolves 1-0 in the Midlands, there have been emanating reports suggesting The Red Devils are still looking to either bring in or sell some new faces.
Mirror Football takes a look at the potential deal United could get over the line by the end of the transfer window.
Eduardo Camavinga
The young French midfielder is available for transfer, having already told Rennes he wants to be transferred.
Despite only being 18-years-old, the midfielder already had 88 senior appearances under his belt, four of which are in the Champions League.
And with Scott McTominay struggling with injuries, and Fred undergoing intense criticism for his performances against both Southampton and Wolves, a new midfielder could be the final piece in the puzzle for Solskjaer’s side.
Camavinga is reportedly available for around £35m, and according to Duncan Castle of The Transfer Window Podcast, United are strongly considering him as an option to sit in between Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
Many pundits and journalists have criticised Fred’s performances after he scored an own goal against Southampton and was given a torrid time by Adama Traore against Wolves.
Kieran Trippier
Are Man Utd favourites to win the Premier League now? Comment below
Multiple reports have suggested Trippier is desperate for a return to the Premier League, after spending over two years with Atletico Madrid.
However, The Athletic [via football.London] understand United could be set to come back into the market for the 28-year-old England international.
It is believed Solskjaer wants to add some experienced competition for current right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and feels Trippier can be the perfect support act.
Any move will depend on United’s ability to haggle with current La Liga champions on Trippier’s price, as the former Tottenham Hotspur defender is entering the final 18 months of his deal with Atletico.
Dan James
Ronaldo’s arrival has generated levels of excitement not seen in a long time amongst the United fan-base; however, the Portugal captain’s reputation, as well as his monstrous wages will likely push some players out the door.
According to The Sun, Dan James looks like the player who could spill out of the pot of United’s vast array of attacking options.
Everton, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Leeds are alleged to be the main clubs fighting for his signature, and it is understood the Welshman will likely be allowed to leave, if an offer is put forward.
A loan move could also be likely for the 23-year-old, who already had four appearances this season.
Donny van de Beek:
One player who has been struggling to get a kick at Old Trafford is Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman was a £40m signing last season, and he even scored on his debut.
However, he has never looked like he has convinced Solskjaer, and the Football Insider has even suggested the former Ajax midfielder’s future with The Red Devils looks very finite.
With United also still in the market for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, van de Beek’s looks like he is slipping further and further down.
Diogo Dalot
With United still looking to organise a move for Trippier, Diogo Dalot could be set for another loan spell.
The 22-year-old right back could be on his way to Borussia Dortmund, with Bild [via SportWitness] claiming the German side are interested in taking the Portugese international on loan.
Dalot was with AC Milan last season on loan, and it is appearing more and more likely he will be moved out of Old Trafford again soon.
He made his first appearance for the season in the 1-0 away victory against Wolves, coming on as a late substitute for Mason Greenwood.
