Five tracks to hear this week (Nov 30-Dec 6)

After hitting the clubs with Diplo in their dance duo Silk City, Mark Ronson is relaunching his solo career and seems to have made his divorce album. The first song, a Miley Cyrus collaboration titled Nothing Breaks Like a Heart, is out now.

Meanwhile, Coldplay are heading in the other direction, going fully dance on a new collaboration with Pharrell Williams. For the Latin vibes of E-Lo, they’ve changed the band name to Los Unidades, but there’s no mistaking Chris Martin’s voice.

Brian Eno’s Bloom was one of the first truly special apps for the original iPhone. A decade later, he and Peter Chilvers have reworked the program, which generates music and visuals with a few taps, into something much more expansive. Bloom: 10 Worlds is available to pre-order now.

Sharon Van Etten continues to pave an enticing way towards January’s new album with another track, Jupiter 4. She just called it “a happy, almost poppy love song” on Twitter, which is a stretch. It’s a languorous six minutes of great beauty.

London dance-pop producer Jax Jones, known for his hits with Raye and Mabel, has just released what’s surely his biggest song yet. Play is a sunny, upbeat tune delivered in the sweet tones of Olly Alexander from Years & Years.
