Five tracks to hear this week (March 29-April 4)

Almost six years since her last album, Sky Ferreira is back with a new song and a darker, widescreen sound. Downhill Lullaby is slow and long and puts the singer on Lana Del Rey’s moody turf.

Texas rock band White Denim are more prolific, following last August’s eighth album with their ninth, Side Effects, out today. The lead song, NY Money, is almost seven minutes of energetic experimenting.

Birmingham band Editors are set to release The Blanck Mass Sessions, a set of reworkings of their recent Violence album by electronic producer Blanck Mass. The lone new song, Barricades, is out now with a mesmerising video.

Cate Le Bon’s new song, Daylight Matters, seems appropriate to add to playlists just as the clocks go forward. It’s a gorgeous groove that will help you to get over that hour less in bed.

Lizzo continued her march this week, following her soul pop favourite Juice with a modern hip hop number. Tempo is an empowering duet with Missy Elliott. The video, when it arrives, ought to be memorable.
