Five things we spotted as Manchester United players train ahead of Burnley match

Manchester United players returned to training at Carrington on Wednesday ahead of their Premier League clash with Burnley tomorrow evening.

Ralf Rangnick's men will be looking for an improved performance on Thursday after a lacklustre 1-1 draw with Newcastle United at St James' Park.

The German remains unbeaten at United since taking on the interim position back in November thanks to victories against Crystal Palace and Norwich City as well as a point in the Champions League against Young Boys.

Thursday's opposition, Burnley, have not played since December 12 and Sean Dyche is likely to have a few selection headaches tomorrow.

Take a look below at five things we spotted at United training today.

1) Cristiano Ronaldo all smiles

Following criticism by Gary Neville after the Newcastle point, the Portuguese ace appeared to be in good spirits ahead of the Burnley test.

Let's hope he is back to his best tomorrow.

2) Juan Mata remains involved

Despite rumours today suggesting that Mata is set to be released from his contract in January, the Spaniard played his part in training today.

There appears to be no suggestion as of yet that he will be leaving the club in the coming weeks.

3) Anthony Martial looking sharp

Another forgotten man at the Theatre of Dreams, Martial, looked to be on the ball in training today ahead of the visit of Dyche's men.

Could he be making a surprise return to the matchday squad tomorrow.

4) Rangnick watches on

Rangnick cut an imposing figure on the touchline today as he observed United training.

After a less than impressive display on Monday, the German perhaps has some tough decisions to make ahead of tomorrow's game.

5) No sign of David De Gea

A star performer for Manchester United again this season has been De Gea whose season so far has been littered with world class saves.

He appeared not to be pictured today in training with Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton seen making saves at Carrington.
