Five things spotted in Manchester United training as Amad is watched closely - plus Bruno's flying challenge

Manchester United have stepped up their preparations for Thursday night's clash with AC Milan.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side welcome the Serie A club to Old Trafford for the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie under the lights.

United come into the match fresh from beating rivals Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium the weekend and will fancy their chances against a depleted Milan team.

As usual, United completed full training ahead of tomorrow's fixtures and their latest session gave plenty of insight to how the squad is feeling.

Here's a rundown of five things the MEN spotted from United's latest training session.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives team news update ahead of first-leg against AC Milan

No Rashford in sight

Solskjaer confirmed to the press on Wednesday that Marcus Rashford wouldn't play any part in tomorrow's match with AC Milan.

The Englishman limped off during Sunday's win over City with a back complaint and could miss the weekend's match with West Ham United too.

As a result, it's little surprise that Rashford wasn't pictured in training, as Solskjaer revealed later in the day.

"I don't think he'll be available for tomorrow," Solskjaer said when asked about Rashford.

"He's still getting treatment but he didn't join in during training today. Even though I'm normally a very optimistic guy, I think he's out for tomorrow night and probably a doubt for the weekend."

Amad aims to impress

Solskjaer got another good look at Amad in training on Wednesday night ahead of any potential involvement on Thursday night.

The winger made his United debut in their last Europa League tie, enjoying the final half an hour against Real Sociedad, albeit with the tie at 4-0 on aggregate.

With Rashford ruled out of the squad, as well as doubts over Edinson Cavan's fitness, Amad could be given another chance to impress, with Solskjaer pictured watching over their January addition in training.

Shoretire heavily involved

As with Amad, Shole Shoretire could benefit from United's injuries with some more first-team minutes.

The forward has been training with United's first team for over a month after being promoted from the under-23s.

Shoretire was in the thick of the action in training, involved in small-sided possession drills and jostling with teammates for possession.

Another chance for Henderson

Dean Henderson has another opportunity to stake a claim for the number one shirt.

The goalkeeper has started United's last two Premier League matches and will be between the sticks again on Thursday with David de Gea away on paternity leave.

It was Henderson and Lee Grant pictured in goalkeeper training so there's little to suggest Nathan Bishop would be given a baptism of fire, while Sergio Romero remains unregistered.

Henderson drew plenty of praise for his performance against City, with a quick throw-out proving crucial for Luke Shaw who doubled United's lead.

Fernandes in high spirits

Bruno Fernandes continues to drive United forward with his infectious enthusiasm and desire to win.

Even in training, the Portuguese international wants to be on the winning side.

Fernandes was pictured both jovially berating a teammate for not passing him the ball but also shown smiling and enjoying training with his teammates, before jumping into a challenge with Eric Bailly.

The 26-year-old is likely to be involved again for United against AC Milan despite the relentless nature of their fixture schedule, with Paul Pogba still out through injury.
