Liverpool are ramping up their pre-season training preparations over in Austria.
The Reds are currently enjoying the sights and sounds on the outskirts of Salzburg, whilst also gearing up for the 2021/22 campaign.
Jurgen Klopp has four pre-season matches to assess his squad ahead of the new campaign, while also using the training sessions at his disposal.
On Thursday, the Reds have been taking part in yet another session as they continue their preparations for the new campaign.
Here are five things we learned from the latest session.
Alexander-Arnold boost
Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced to miss the Euros with England due to a thigh injury, but he is gradually working his way back to action.
Klopp confirmed on Wednesday that the 22-year-old is in good shape, but has a mixed training regime compared to the majority of the squad.
Alexander-Arnold has been pictured training with the rest of his team-mates, indicating that his return from injury is going well.
Milner helps out Grujic
One player who Liverpool fans won’t have seen for a long time is Marko Grujic, who has spent the past four seasons on loan away from Anfield.
The expectation among many is that he will be sold this summer, but as things stand he is training with the squad and building up his fitness.
One picture showed him training alongside James Milner, who will no doubt have been offering the Serbia international plenty of advice from his years of experience.
Salah looking out for youngsters
The training camp in Austria is mainly to help the senior players build up their fitness, but there are other benefits for the youngsters, too.
Klopp has included several academy players in the 34-man squad that has travelled to Austria, and will be hoping each one of them stakes a claim to be in his thoughts for the first-team.
One of those will be young midfielder Leighton Clarkson, who featured in the Champions League last season as a substitute in the away draw with Midtjylland.
Clarkson was pictured training alongside Mohamed Salah, who like Milner with Grujic, will use his experience to help the youngster settle in and improve.
Minamino getting stuck in
Pre-season this summer is a big deal for a host of players whose future at Anfield remains up in the air.
Arguably none more so than Takumi Minamino, who still has both doubters and admirers on Merseyside.
His loan spell at Southampton was met with mixed reviews, but Klopp will know that the player he hoped he was getting from Red Bull Salzburg is still there somewhere.
The latest photos showed Minamino being very enthusiastic in training by committing to tackles and challenges.
A sign that he is determined to work his way back into Klopp’s plans going forward.
No Van Dijk or Gomez
While the past week has seen fans happy at seeing Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez back training with the group, there may be some who are concerned at not seeing them in the latest round of photos.
It’s worth remembering that the pair have been sidelined for a long time and they both had serious injuries that need the right rehab.
Klopp even said that they are yet to be fully integrated with the rest of the squad, and are still in the process of building up their fitness levels.
They will be back in the frame in the not too distant future.
