Five test positive for coronavirus in NT quarantine facility

All cases were from repatriation flights and are currently under quarantine.

Five people, including three children and two adults, have tested positive for coronavirus in the Northern Territory today from repatriation flights and are in quarantine in Darwin's Howard Springs facility.

Four people who arrived from India on January 1 have tested positive, including a 17-month-old boy, three-year-old girl, 30-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man.

Another 21-month-old child, who arrived from a government-arranged flight from Germany on January 3, has also tested positive for coronavirus.

The NT Government confirmed that four patients are currently asymptomatic and are under the care of the AUSMAT team at the NT Centre for National Resilience in the Top End capital city, except for one who is exhibiting symptoms and is in isolation at the Royal Darwin Hospital.

These new cases take the Territory's total of positive COVID-19 cases to 53.

A total of 2,384 people have entered quarantine in Darwin after returning to Australia on Qantas repatriation flights from England, India, France and Germany since October last year.

The total number of positive coronavirus cases reported in the Territory is 88, with all cases relating to international or interstate travel.

There have been no cases of community transmission.
