Five teenagers were arrested following a garda chase that ended in a car crash in west Dublin.
A number of garda cars responded to an incident at Adamstown, Lucan around 5.10 pm today.
Officers pursued a car which was seen speeding away. A garda helicopter was also called in for assistance.
The pursuit ended in the car smashing into another vehicle in Lucan Village.
Five male youths, who were the occupants of the vehicle, tried to flee away on foot but were caught and arrested by the gardai.
A search of the vehicle found an imitation firearm.
A garda spokesman said: "The five males are currently detained at various Garda Stations in West Dublin under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. Investigations are ongoing."
