Five teams Liverpool could face in Champions League last-16 confirmed

Liverpool will wait with anticipation to find out who they will face in the Champions League last-16.

The European champions secured top spot in their group following a 2-0 win over Salzburg on Tuesday night and will head into the knockout rounds as one of the favourites to defend their title.

All group games in the competition have now been played and Jurgen Klopp's men will know they could be drawn against any one of five different teams.

The draw will take place on Monday from 11am , with the Reds unable to play against Napoli because they qualified from the same group, or any other English side.

In addition, as group winners, Liverpool can only play one of the teams who came second in their respective group.

In Group A, PSG finished top with Real Madrid coming in second so Klopp's men could exact revenge on the Spanish giants after losing against them in the 2018 Champions League final.

In Group B, Bayern Munich secured first place while Tottenham came second meaning the Reds cannot face either side as per competition rules.

In Group C, Manchester City were the group winners and Atalanta finished second and are therefore in the draw to face Liverpool in the last-16.

In Group D, Juventus claimed top spot with Atletico Madrid behind meaning the European champions could be travelling back to the Estadio Metropolitano where they claimed the trophy last term.

In Group E, Liverpool were victorious and Napoli came second but as per competition rules they cannot meet Napoli in the next round.

In Group F, Barcelona finished in top spot with Borussia Dortmund securing second-place meaning Klopp could face a match up with his former side.

In Group G, RB Leipzig qualified in first while Lyon came second and so the Reds could be paired against the Ligue 1 side.

In Group H, Valencia came top while Chelsea were runners up but Liverpool can face neither of those sides given the competition rulings listed above.
