Five star Qatar wants tourists to sample desert nation ahead of 2022 World Cup

World Cup host nation Qatar is finally open to fully-vaccinated visitors from the UK who want to get a glimpse of the football festival venue ahead of the tournament.

The country wants to attract holidaymakers from the UK when it transfers to the amber list from 4am on Sunday.

Rich in art, culture and tradition, Qatar has an extensive and growing range of five-star hotels and hotel apartments, gourmet restaurants, world-class spas and wellness centres, cultural and heritage sights.

The destination is fast emerging as one of the most exciting travel destinations for 2021 and beyond, as it gears up to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 202.

The country has introduced a wave of new experiences, including the world’s tallest indoor rollercoaster and globally-renowned new restaurants.

From complimentary in-room breakfast at the Wyndham Doha to a photo shoot on the Ritz helipad – hotels offer more than expected.

Qatar is a peninsula surrounded by the Arabian Gulf in the heart of the Middle East, within a six-hour flight from the UK. It has an incredible variety of easily accessible tourist attractions, a plethora of fauna and flora including Whale Sharks and the majestic national animal the Arabian Oryx.

Qatar has a desert climate with year-round sunshine, extreme temperatures during high summer and mild winters. Average monthly temperatures range from 17C in January to 36C in July, sometimes reaching highs of 40C+ during the summer months.

Attitudes towards dress in Qatar are relaxed, but visitors (men as well as women) are expected to show respect for local culture by avoiding excessively revealing clothing in public. It is generally recommended for men and women to ensure their shoulders and knees are covered.

As in all Middle Eastern countries, showing overt affection and intimacy in public is frowned upon.

It is an offence to drink alcohol or be drunk in public. Alcohol is available only at licensed hotel restaurants and bars, and expatriates living in Qatar can obtain alcohol on a permit system.

Qatar has introduced a 100 per cent tax on alcohol, doubling prices overnight. The price of a 24-can pack of beer costs up to £85., with a bottle of wine at least £25.
