Five-star linebacker narrows college choice to Ohio State and Georgia

And then there were too.

According to an announcement on his Twitter feed, five-star 2020 linebacker Mekhail Sherman out of St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C. has narrowed his list of schools down to Ohio State and Georgia.

And while most experts believe Sherman is a heavy Bulldog lean right now, being in the final two means there’s still time to reel in the big fish for Ryan Day and company. It would be one Ohio State would love to get, especially since his teammate, five-star wide-receiver Rakim Jarrett just committed to LSU over Ohio State.

At 6-3, 234 lbs., Sherman is a prized recruit that almost every school wants. He is rated as the No. 2 outside linebacker in the country and eleventh overall recruit according to 247Sports. He also holds offers from Alabama, Penn State, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and others.

He was just on campus this past weekend which bodes well for the Buckeyes, but at this point it would probably be a surprise and quite an upset if he didn’t end up in Athens when it’s all said and done. That’s a complete turn around from him seemingly close to committing to the Buckeyes just a few months ago.

Of course, as always, we’ll keep an eye on how things progress and what timetable becomes available for Sherman’s announcement.
